I'm prepping my 2015 Skoda Superb for sale / trade in and after giving it a good wash found to my dismay that the paint work was covered in little people's hand prints (I suspect mixed with suncream / sunblock) and other odd patches. Leaving the car with these marks on would likely reduce any chance of getting a decent price for the car so I took to the interweb to see if I could find a solution. I already have some G3 Scratch remover that I've used to good effect on my 2007 Honda Civic, but given the Skoda is much newer with modern paint I didn't want to go straight to something so abrasive.
It was at this point I came across the Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, given it was under a tenner I thought it was worth a punt. I got a set of Meguiars Soft Foam Applicator Pad's at the same time.
I decided to try it on the worse panel on the car (passenger side rear quarter) see picture below. After a fair bit of elbow power (note to self, get a Dual Action Polisher soon) the paint seemed visibly clearer, I went over it once more and the off-colour patch on the paint appears to have gone, result.
Encouraged by that I gave the rest of the car the same treatment, which took the better part of 2-3 hours doing it manually. And I was generally impressed, for the sole job of getting children's finger print marks off the car it was excellent. However, it wasn't so good at getting off the black bits on the paint or other smaller contaminants, they refused to budge using this product. For that I had to resort to a clay bar, which I'll review another time.
Following the clay bar treatment, I waxed the car with Super Resin Polish from Autoglym and the car came up a treat. Now all I need to do is keep the kids away from it.
For a total of £15 including the foam pads, the Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner did a fair job. It's not perfect and you'll need other cleaning products tools to get everything off your paint, but it's certainly something to use as a first pass. I would recommend getting a Dual Action Polisher though, doing it all manually by hand takes some time.
Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner Scores 4/5.
